Anton ‘Tony’ Votava

PRINCETON — Anton G. “Tony” Votava, 83, of Princeton, formerly of Bradford, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 21, 1934, in Castle Rock, S.D., the son of Frank and Anna (Kimlicka) Votava.

Tony graduated from Bradford High School with the Class of 1952. He attended Illinois Central College in Peoria. He farmed in the Bradford area all of his life.

He was a member of the NRA, and was a jack of all trades and seller of all. Tony was a gun collector, lover of the land, great storyteller and a real business man.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Votava of Anchorage, Alaska, and Frank Votava of Normal; one daughter, Anna (Jason) Wilcox of Peoria; two grandsons, Jonathan and Samuel; and one sister, Mary Benka of LaGrange.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Votava.

A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford with Father Daniel Gifford officiating. Burial will take place in the Osceola Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
