Why Gersch was selected:
The senior guard scored 23 points, which featured seven 3-pointers, to help the Tigers beat Lockport 48-44 in the championship game of the Oak Lawn Invite. She was selected as the MVP after scoring 76 points and connecting on 14 three-pointers during the competition.

Herron: What do you like the most about playing basketball?
Gersch: How we get along and work as a team during our games.
Herron: What do you like the most about your current team?
Gersch: When someone's down, then we pick each other up.
Herron: What do you like the most about competing for Joliet West?
Gersch: This is my high school so I want to try to get the school a name for girls basketball.
Herron: Who's a person that you'd like to meet?
Gersch: I'd like to meet the Cubs third baseman, Kris Bryant.
Herron: Who are some of your favorite sports teams?
Gersch: For baseball, it's the White Sox and the Cubs, and for hockey, it's the Blackhawks.
Herron: Do you have any pets?
Gersch: Yes, I have a black Lab that's named Riley.
Herron: What's your favorite food and what restaurant do you like?
Gersch: I like pizza. And Chili's.
Herron: What type of music do you like?
Gersch: I will listen to anything.
Herron: What's your favorite TV show and movie?
Gersch: My favorite TV show is Hawaii Five-O. And I like the movie, The Proposal.
Herron: What do you like to do in your free time?
Gersch: Relax.
Herron: What's your favorite class and what are you planning to study in the future?
Gersch: I like Pre-calculus and math. And I want to be a physical therapist.
Herron: What's the most interesting place that you've been and where would you like to visit?
Gersch: Probably Florida. And I'd like to go to either Hawaii or somewhere in Europe.
