SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. – George H Cooper, 97, formerly of Dixon, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at his home in Sun City West.
George was born July 22, 1920, in Waukegan, the son of Clifford W. and Bessie M. (Holdredge) Cooper. After serving in the Navy during World War II, George was employed by Commonwealth Edison (Exelon) for 38 years at Station 16 in Dixon, and the Byron Nuclear Generating Station, when he retired in 1984. In 1993 he and his wife of 75 years, Dorothy Inness Cooper, moved to Sun City West.
He is survived by his wife; son, Craig and his wife, Linda of Glendale, Arizona; daughter, Carol of Sun City West; four grandchildren, Christopher of Round Rock, Texas, Nathan and Patrick, both of Glendale, and Emily of Gilbert, Arizona; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two older brothers, Harold E. Cooper of Waukegan and Robert C. Cooper of Prairie Village, Kansas.
A private family ceremony will be at a later date at Advent Episcopal Church in Sun City West.
