Maxine G. Bartz

STERLING – Maxine G. Bartz, 87, of Sterling, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.

She was born March 19, 1930, in Morrison, the daughter of Max and Engar (Daehler) Doss. She married Donald “Pete” Imel on April 14, 1950. He died Sept. 14, 1964. She married Francis Bartz on Feb. 14, 1971. He died Nov. 28, 1999. Maxine had worked at Wahl Clipper Corp. in Sterling as a typist for 22 years, and also had worked as a beautician out of her home for 19 years. She was a 60-year member of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, and through the church, visited with the elderly members for 4 years. She also was a member of the Sterling Family Moose.

Surviving are her daughter, Pennie Cloud of Arlington, Texas; her son, Lonnie Imel of Kincaid; her stepdaughter, Pat Bramm of Morrison; her stepsons, Don (Diane) Bartz of Wisconsin and Steven Bartz of North Carolina; one sister, Venita Welch of Rock Falls; one brother-in-law, Edgar Enright of Rock Falls; six grandchildren, Jennifer Cook, Joshua Imel, Trista Imel, Ashley Imel, Max Hampton, and John Cloud; and several great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Enright and Ethel Cain; and her brother, Lawrence Doss.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, with the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls, with the Rev. Solomon Sudhakar, pastor of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be private.
