NEW LENOX – Dr. Asiya Hussain, internal medicine physician, has recently joined Sanitas Medical Group – Dr. Jose Penaherrera, Dr. Latha Arla-Polavarapu, and nurse practitioners Megan Overcash and Silvia Villagomez.
Sanitas Medical Group, recognized as a Patient Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, is located on the Silver Cross Hospital campus, Pavilion A, Suite 265, New Lenox.
Hussain has a special interest in women’s health, diabetes and preventive medicine.
She graduated with honors from Rutgers University in New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in public health. She received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies.
Hussain completed an internal medicine residency at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, a member of Geisinger Health System in Atlantic City, New Jersey. During her residency, Hussain served as the patient quality and improvement officer and resident chairman of simulation. She was honored with the 2015 Michael R. Katz Award for recognition of compassion, kindness and integrity in medicine from Atlanticare Regional Medical Center.
Hussain is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine and Advocate Physician Partners.
