Richard A. Zilly, 87, of Oregon, died on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 at KSB Hospital in Dixon.
He was born on March 14, 1930 in Elmhurst, the son of William and Myrtle (Bergquist) Zilly.
He graduated from York High School in Elmhurst.
He worked as a printer for most of his life.
He married Theresa Heft on June 22, 1957 in Villa Park. They enjoyed 60 years together.
His hobbies included woodworking and photography.
He is survived by his wife Theresa Zilly, of Oregon; five children, Elizabeth (Dr. Jeffrey) Edwards, of Wheaton, Daniel E. (Sandra) Zilly, of Winfield, Suzanne (Dennis) Duggan, of Fulton, Karen Zilly, of Long Beach, California, Diana Zilly, of Joliet; a sister Marville Klein, of Grays Lake; six grandchildren, Darlene, Zoe, Kai, Steven, Amanda, and Jessica.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Orville Zilly; and sister, Gertrude Ellis.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. Seventh St., Oregon, with Dr. Jeffrey Edwards and Dennis Duggan leading the service.
Visitation will be held on Saturday prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Private burial will take place at the St. Paul Cemetery in Aurora.
A memorial fund has been established for the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Richard’s family would especially like to thank the Oregon Fire Protection District for their special care of Richard.
