Roundup: Oswego boys basketball goes 0-4 at Jack Tosh tournament

BOYS BASKETBALL

Oswego: The Panthers went 0-4 at the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic at York High School Dec. 26-29.

Dylan Engler and Marco Wilson each scored 12 points, and Jack Kahoun and Jacob Wayne each added 10 points for Oswego (1-12) in a 54-52 loss to Nazareth on Dec. 29. Engler scored 17 points in Oswego's 49-42 loss to Waubonsie Valley on Dec. 28.

Wilson had 21 points and seven rebounds, Cal Hejza added 13 points and Engler 12 points and eight assists in the Panthers' 61-60 overtime loss to Lyons Township on Dec. 27.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Oswego: Angelina Schlinger scored 10 points for the Panthers in a 29-24 loss to East Aurora on Dec. 29 at the Oswego East Holiday Tournament.

Katie Beebe scored 11 points and Mckenna Engler added nine points in Oswego's 57-49 loss to Aurora Central Catholic on Dec. 28.

WRESTLING

Oswego: Oswego wrestlers Gannon Hughes and Allen Swanson were both runners-up at the Dvorak Invitational on Dec. 23 at Harlem High School in Machesney Park.

Swanson beat two nationally-ranked wrestlers, defeating Nelson Brands of Iowa City West 10-6 in the 160-pound semifinals. Swanson (21-1) lost to Danny Braunagel of Belleville Althoff in the final.

At 145 pounds Hughes (20-1) beat Colton Worachek of Luxemburg-Casco (Wisconsin) by a 13-3 major decision in the semifinals before losing to Kendall Coleman of Mount Carmel in the final.

BOWLING

Oswego: The Panthers bowled a 4,259 for fourth place at the JV Raider Invite at Bolingbrook, and Oswego's fresh-soph team took fifth at the Hononegah Invite.
