PRINCETON — William H. “Bill” Losey, 92, of Princeton died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Aperion Care in Princeton.
Bill was born Sept. 12, 1925, at home in Hall Township, Bureau County, to William H. and Mary Louise (Hubbard) Losey. He married Barbara June Sommerville July 8, 1951. She died Aug. 9, 1971. He married Betty Ann Gustafson July 12, 1974.
Bill attended Cherry grade school and high school and graduated from LaMoille High School in 1945. He tested milk for Dairy-Herd Improvement Association before becoming a petroleum salesman for Bureau Service Co., where he worked for 38-plus years, retiring in 1988.
Bill was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer for many years and did maintenance work. He volunteered at The Closet since 1992, doing maintenance, mowing, recycling and bicycle repair. Beginning in 1992 after Hurricane Andrew, he worked with Illinois Baptist State Association Disaster Relief feeding unit. Bill enjoyed bicycling, gardening and sharing produce with others.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty Ann; four children, Allen (Cathie) Losey of Princeton, Ralph (Mary Jo) Losey of Galena, Carl (Karla) Losey of Chillicothe and Doris (Michael) Smith of Princeton; one stepson, Philip Jay (Jamie) Gustafson of Lake Villa; 12 grandchildren, Nathan Losey, Katie (John) Donofrio, Molly (Brandon) Alred, Elena (Travis) Bettinson, Christopher Losey, Kelsey (Chandler) Birch, Cassidy (Kyle) Salsbery, Carter Losey, David Collins, and Michael, Matthew and Megan Smith; and one great-grandson, Ian Donofrio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara; four brothers, Jean, Charles, David and Lee Losey; and two sisters, Mary Allicks and Rose Robbins.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton. Cremation was accorded. A private burial will take place at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home.
