Roundup: Glenbard East's Kolie Allen wins USTA doubles national title

GIRLS TENNIS

Glenbard East: Rams' senior Kolie Allen, who last fall went 33-0 to win the Class 2A singles title, won the girls 18s doubles title at the United States Tennis Association National Winter Championships on Jan. 2 in Orlando.

Allen, paired with Ivana Corley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, beat Christina and Clarissa Hand of Moorestown, N.J., 6-1, 6-4. In doing so Allen and Corley, the top-seeded doubles team, went unbeaten in the tournament and avenged a loss in November at the National Indoor Championship.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Montini

Aaliyah Patty poured in 27 points and 11 rebounds and Illysse Pitts added 18 points – including the game-winning 3-pointer with 49 seconds left in overtime – as Montini beat Milwaukee Rufus King 64-63 in overtime on Jan. 6 at the Chicagoland Invitational Showcase at Benet.

Lindsey Jarosinski added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Broncos (20-1).

York

Danielle Dennis scored 17 points to pace the Dukes in a 60-58 loss to Oak Park-River Forest on Jan. 8. Matty Stark and Caylin Rufus each added 14 points for York.

BOYS BASKETBALL

IC Catholic Prep

St. Patrick's Dominic Galati hit a game-winning shot with 1.1 seconds, handing the Knights a 43-41 loss. Kevin Cheng scored 23 points and Alex Meuer added 11 for ICCP (11-5).

Willowbrook

Ethan Schuemer scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Matthew Myers had 13 points and four rebounds in the Warriors 60-48 win over Hinsdale Central on Jan. 6. Sikander Zafar and Matas Masys each scored 10 points. Schuemer had 14 points and eight rebounds and Myer had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals in Willowbrook's 47-44 loss to Morton on Dec. 9.
