Katzenberger hired as West Carroll superintendent

MOUNT CARROLL – The West Carroll School District didn’t have to look long, or far, to find its next supeirntendent.

The school board on Jan. 10 approved the promotion of West Carroll Middle School Principal Julie Katzenberger to superintendent. Katzenberger will succeed Adam Brumbaugh, who is resigning at the end of the school year to be principal of the Geneseo School District. He was hired there Dec. 14. Katzenberger will take over the district’s top position on July 1.

“Her passion to teach was developed early, “ the school board said in a news release. “Her desire has been to assist children achieve their goals and realize their potential. She wants to help the West Carroll students be prepared for their college choice.

“She will be working with the Board of Education to set specific goals for improvement, build on the community connections that created West Carroll, and create the best educational environment for student achievement.”

Katzenberger grew up in Mount Carroll and graduated from Illinois State University. She was a middle school science teacher for 13 years, and has been an administrator for 12 years.
