Orla J. Rowland

STERLING – Orla Jean Rowland, 94, of Sterling, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Orla was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Sterling, the daughter of Edwin T. and Mable Mildred (Shontz) Betts. She married Richard Fluck in 1944. He preceded in death July 27, 1949. She then married Galen Rowland on Jan. 1, 1953, in Sterling. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1971. Orla was a homemaker and a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Lee of Sterling and Gail Walsh of Gulf Breeze, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Kristi Fluck of Oldsmar, Florida; one sister, Janet Shuman of Silvis; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Daniel Fluck; one sister, Arlene Book; and one brother, Melvin Betts.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. McDonald Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
