Milledgeville 72, AFC 45: Milledgeville senior Kyle Ottens broke his school’s all-time scoring record with a 26-point performance against the Raiders in NUIC East play.
Cade Schave chipped in 19 points for the Missiles. All 10 Milledgeville players scored in the game. Caleb Drew led AFC with 14 points. Adam Hart added 13 for the Raiders.
West Carroll 48, Galena 46: Dawson Wurster paced a balanced attack with 12 points as the Thunder edged the Pirates in an NUIC West road game.
Also for West Carroll, Jacob Dunk had 11 points, and Aaron Haring added eight.
Tyler Eilts paced Galena with 13 points.
FRIDAY
Sterling 64, LaSalle-Peru 36: Rebounds and defense carried the Golden Warriors to a Northern Illinois Big 12 West Division home win over the Cavaliers.
Sterling forced 29 turnovers and swiped 20 steals. It also outrebounded L-P 25-19, and took advantage of opportunities in transition.
Sterling scored the game’s first eight points and led 14-5 after the opening quarter.
Back-to-back 3s by Isaiah Ryan gave Sterling a 20-7 advantage just 2 minutes into the second, as he finished 5-for-6 shooting for 13 of his 15 points in the first half.
Sterling shot 52 percent (25-for-48) for the game, as nine different players scored. L-P shot 39 percent (14-for-36) from the field. Tyler Martyn led the Cavaliers with 10 points.
Newman 77, Princeton 71: The Comets used big performances from seniors Cade Gorzny and Travis Williams and sophomore Devon House to escape Princeton’s Prouty Gym with a TRAC East victory.
House led the way with 29 points for the Comets. Gorzny and Williams had 17 apiece. Brycen Bartel pitched in eight.
Newman outscored the Tigers 22-8 in the second quarter to lead 42-26 at halftime, and held off a late rally. Theteams combined to go 42-for-56 from the free-throw line.
Princeton had four players in double figures. Josh Reinhardt tossed in 22 points to lead the Tigers.
Fulton 47, Erie 44: The Steamers led 14-2 after one quarter, then saw the Cardinals tie it at 16 by halftime before pulling out a TRAC West road win.
Cody Sanderson scored 16 points for the Steamers, with Keegan Kloepping and Tyler Bruggenwirth adding 12 points apiece. Kloepping hit three 3-pointers.
Josh Hammer hit three 3s and finished with a game-high 19 points to pace Erie, while Kyle Stover also hit three 3s for nine points.
Orion 43, Morrison 40: The Mustangs led 18-8 after the first quarter, 24-15 at halftime and 33-26 after three, but couldn’t hold off the Chargers at home in a TRAC West matchup.
Ben Brackemyer scored all seven Morrison points in the fourth quarter, finishing with a team-high 16 points. Ethan Medenblik hit three 3-pointers on his way to 11 points.
Noah Anderson had 16 points to lead Orion.
THURSDAY
Milledgeville 57, Amboy 51: After jumping out to a double-digit lead early, Milledgeville survived a second-half rally for an NUIC East road win.
Kyle Ottens scored 26 points to lead the Missiles, scoring eight in the first quarter as Milledgeville jumped out to a 21-10 lead.
Nate Rahn and Cade Schave each added 11.
Down 33-21 at the half, the Clippers scored 22 points in the third quarter, paced by 12 from Hunter Zimmerly. He finished with 14.
Justin Hart added 13 points for Amboy, and Logan Whelchel had 12.
Pearl City 56, West Carroll 36: The Wolves got off to a quick start, leading 15-9 after one quarter and 30-18 at halftime, to cruise to a home NUIC win.
Jacob Dunk led West Carroll with eight points.
Pearl City had 11 different players score, led by Jayden Kempel with 14 points and Brock Smargiassi with 12.
Stockton 44, Eastland 40
TUESDAY
Hall 61, Newman 55: Hall’s defense made the right adjustments in the second half Tuesday night, leading to eight Newman turnovers on the Comets’ first 10 possessions of the third quarter, and leading to a run to put the Red Devils ahead for good.
Newman led 28-25 at halftime, but Devils steals on two of the first three trips down the floor by Jimmy DeAngelo, followed by another by Alex Castelan, helped spark a 15-2 run.
From there, the Devils’ defense clamped down on the Comets. Hall finished with 11 steals, using those turnovers to get going in transition – 25 of its points came off turnovers.
Newman twice cut its deficit to two points in the closing minutes, down 55-53 after House hit a putback and 57-55 after Williams hit a reverse layup, but both times Hall answered with made free throws.
The Red Devils were a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, and 16-for-20 in the game.
Lena-Winslow 64, East Dubuque 59: The Panthers scored a big NUIC West home win, handing the Warriors their second loss of both their season, and in divisional play.
Le-Win jumped out to a 20-14 lead, and led 34-31 at halftime.
Parker Magee led the Panthers with 18 points, Cade Benson added 12 points, and Alandus Williams and Sean Ormiston each chipped in 10 points.
Layne Boyer led East Dubuque with 30 points.
Fulton 61, Sherrard 54: Kyle Schipper drained five 3-pointers and scored 18 points as the Steamers tamed the visiting Tigers.
Tyler Bruggenwirth had 13 points for Fulton, and Cody Sanderson added 10.
AJ Hatlestad led Sherrard with 24 points, and Colton Minch added 17.
Aquin 56, Milledgeville 42: The Missiles went on the road in NUIC East play and were dealt a loss by the Bulldogs.
Rockridge 49, Morrison 31: Britt Ottens led the Mustangs with 10 points in a road loss to the Rockets.
Cody Bush paced Rockridge with 22 points.

MONDAY
Sterling 49, Dixon 47: Some sticky defense got Sterling back into the game against Dixon, so it was appropriate a defensive play put the Golden Warriors over the top.
Isaiah Ryan drew a charge in the game’s waning seconds, negating a game-tying basket by the Dukes’ Beau Bailey, and the Warriors hung on for a close win Monday afternoon in the finale of the Sterling MLK Tournament.
With 9.2 seconds remaining, Dixon got the ball to its top offensive threat in Bailey, near the top of the key. The junior guard weaved his way through the Sterling defense before spotting an opening and putting up a shot from about 5 feet. It banked in, but didn’t count as Ryan was there to take a charge. The call, made with 2.4 seconds on the clock, drew howls of protest from Dukes’ fans, and cheers from Warriors’ supporters.
The Warriors scored just three second-quarter points in digging themselves a 24-15 halftime deficit, and the Dukes’ lead grew to as many as 14 points (35-21) after a Bailey steal and layup midway through the third quarter.
Dixon was still in good shape after the last of Oscar Van Sickle’s four 3-pointers gave his team a 45-35 lead with just under 6 minutes remaining, but Sterling fought its way back, mainly due to some good work on the defensive end. Seven of Dixon’s 14 turnovers came in the fourth quarter, fueling Sterling’s comeback.
Gingrich tossed in a game-high 23 points. His 3-point play with 1:11 to play gave the Warriors their first lead (48-47) since the opening moments of the game.
Bailey led Dixon with 13 points.
Sterling 44, Naperville Central 40: The Golden Warriors outscored the Redhawks 16-9 in the fourth quarter in their first game Monday at their MLK Tournament.
The game featured 11 lead changes, and the score was tied seven times.
Sterling hit 17 of 23 free throws to preserve the win. Alek Duran led the way with 12 points. Sean Gingrich was 6-for-6 from the foul line in his 10-point performance, and Tyler Willman (eight points) was 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Tyler O’Brien connected on four 3-pointers to lead the Redhawks with 12 points.

Harvest Christian 56, Eastland 35: The Cougars fell prey to the Lions in the finale of the Northwest Illinois Shootout at Ludwig Gym in Lanark.
Eastland fell behind 30-13 at the half and never recovered. Gabby Snyder led the Cougars with eight points. Lydia Coatney was limited to seven points, while Erin Henze was held scoreless. Katie Krogman had 12 rebounds to go with four points.
Alyssa Iverson scored a game-high 14 points for Harvest.
Stockton 52, Byron 39: The Blackhawks had little problem downing the Tigers at the Northwest Illinois Shootout.
Emily Offenheiser led Stockton with 23 points, and Elizabeth Eisfeller added 10 points.
Tamya Vaultonburg and Emmy Keller led Byron with 13 points each.
Winnebago 54, Lena-Winslow 35: The Panthers struggled in the second quarter of their Northwest Illinois Shootout game with the Indians, getting outscored 11-3.
Sydney Lindquist and Madilyn Schultz led Lena-Winslow with eight points each.
Alyssa Thompson scored 22 points for Winnebago.
Camanche (Iowa) 68, Fulton 23: The Steamers fell behind 20-5 after the first quarter and 40-9 at the half in a nonconference road loss to the Indians.
Emily Schipper scored 11 points to lead Fulton. Madi Parson just missed a triple double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine steals for Camanche.
Galena 64, West Carroll 25: The Thunder were thumped by the Pirates on the road in NUIC West play.
FRIDAY
Newman 46, Princeton 39: The Comets outscored the Tigers in the second and third quarters to come away with a TRAC East road win Friday evening.
Down 7-5 after one, Newman outscored Princeton 11-7 in the second quarter and 16-11 in the third.
Madison Craft had 14 points to lead the Comets. Lauren Wilson had eight points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Anna Murray paced the Tigers with nine points.
THURSDAY
Newman 41, Prophetstown 38: The Comets got off to a slow start, but finished strong to beat Prophetstown in a Three Rivers East road game.
The Prophets led 11-3 after one, but the Comets scored 14 points in the second quarter to tie the score 17-17 at halftime. The score was still tied 25-25 after three quarters before Newman pulled out the win in the fourth period.
Madison Craft led the Comets with 16 points. Savannah Skinner added 10.
Courtney Pierceson led Prophetstown with 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Emma Camper had eight points, seven rebounds, 10 assists and four steals.
Fulton 36, Riverdale 31: The Steamers were on the wrong end of a 10-0 run to open the game, but fought their way back for a home TRAC West win.
Rylee Leitzen got Fulton on the board with a 3-pointer, and Brooke Huizenga hit a half-court shot to beat the first-quarter buzzer to cut the deficit to 10-9.
Fulton stormed ahead in the third quarter before the Rams answered, cutting Fulton’s lead to 31-30 with 1 minute left. Huizenga then hit another 3, and the Fulton defense held on to ice the game.
Leitzen, Huizenga and Kylee Sweenie all scored nine for Fulton.
East Dubuque 37, Eastland 35: The Cougars were outscored 12-3 in the fourth quarter on the road to suffer their first NUIC West loss of the season.
Jordan Miller had nine points and six rebounds for Eastland, while Gabby Snyder, Katie Krogman and Lydia Coatney each scored six points. Coatney grabbed nine boards, Krogman pulled down seven, and Snyder hit a pair of 3-pointers. Erin Henze chipped in five points and eight assists.
The Warriors’ Skylar Culbertson was the game’s lone double-figure scorer with 10 points.

Milledgeville 56, Warren 29: Rebecca Waite paced a balanced attack with 21 points as Milledgeville rolled to a NUIC crossover win against visiting Warren.
Also for the Missiles, Jocelyn Folkers had 11 points, Sabreena Hartman had nine, and Mady Frederick added eight.
TUESDAY
Sterling 58, Rochelle 57: The Golden Warriors’ defense held off a furious flurry of Rochelle chances in the final 20 seconds, and the Golden Warriors held on for a NIB-12 West win.
Sterling led 47-39 heading into the fourth quarter before the Hubs scored 18 points in the final 8 minutes, but could not complete the comeback.
After several chances for the game-winner, the ball went out of bounds off a Hubs player with 1.9 seconds left, and Sterling was able to inbound the ball to Josi Borum to run out the clock.
Borum scored 14 points. Grace Gould scored 17, and Gretchen Gould added 13.
Abby Lundquist led Rochelle with 24 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. Morgan Baker added 18.
Rockridge 48, Morrison 34: Peyton Tegeler tossed in 17 points for the Fillies in a road loss to the Rockets.
Fran Letts led Rockridge with 21 points, and Jessica Stice added 16.
Milledgeville 66, Polo 48: Rebecca Waite paced a balanced attack with 20 points as the Missiles picked up an NUIC East road win against the Marcos.
Mady Frederick had 18 points for Milledgeville, and Sabreena Hartman added 16.
Alex Dusing scored 15 points for Polo, and Rilley Peterson added 13.
East Dubuque 62, Lena-Winslow 36: The Panthers fell behind 37-21 at halftime and couldn’t recover in a road loss to the Warriors.
Carmen DeVries led the Panthers with 10 points.
Abby Berryman, Madison Feyen, and Morgan Sirianni each scored 11 points to lead East Dubuque.
MONDAY
Bureau Valley 46, Newman 36: Poor shooting and rebounding did in the Comets in a TRAC East road loss in Manlius.
Bureau Valley out-rebounded Newman 45-25, and made 19 of 42 field goals. Unfortunately for the Comets, their offense couldn’t keep pace – making just 14 of 60 shots, and missing their first 15 3-pointers.
However, Newman swiped 21 steals, which made up most of the Storm’s turnovers count (26).
Alejandra Padilla came off the bench and led the Comets with 14 points. Madison Craft led the Comets’ defense with five steals.

Garcias take a pair of seconds at Conference: Sterling’s Turner Garcia (160) and Noah Garcia (132) came up short in championship bouts at the Northern Illinois Big 12 conference meet in Geneseo.
Turner Garcia lost 7-6 to DeKalb’s Austin Johnson. Noah Garcia lost with a similar score to Rochelle’s Justin Hernandez.
Julian Rodriguez also finished all-conference for the Warriors, taking third with a 14-9 win over Ottawa’s Riley Hanson at 113 pounds.
As a team, Sterling was seventh with 102.5 points, just behind Rochelle’s 108. DeKalb won with 221 points, while last year’s champ Yorkville was second with 191.
Steamers 4th at Orion: Tyler Fleetwood and Taylor Fleetwood each won championships to lead Fulton to fourth place at the 18-team Bob Mitton Invitational in Orion.
The Steamers had 118 points, behind just Orion (205), Clinton (174.5) and Alleman (160).
Tyler Fleetwood won the 132-pound title with a 4-2 decision against Mercer County’s Stone Engle. It avenged an earlier loss to Engle.
Taylor Fleetwood was a 3-2 winner against Galesburg’s Cody Thomas in the 285-pound final.
The Steamers also got a runner-up finish from 195-pounder Eli Pannell, while Tony Heinitz (152) was third.
Pantherhawks third in Clinton: Logan Kuehl kept his unbeaten season intact with the 285-pound championship at the Lueders Invitational in Clinton, Iowa.
Lena-Winslow/Stockton finished with 139.5 points, behind Cedar Rapids Prarie (161.5) and champion Lisbon (167).
Kuehl won his first two matches with pins in 21 and 38 seconds, before beating Fairfield’s Brendon Lunsford 3-1 in the championship.
West Carroll wound up 18th with 33.5 points. Ethen Doty (3rd at 120) led the Thunder.
Morrison was 19th with 33 points. Augustus Linke (5th at 138) was the top Mustang.
THURSDAY
Sterling 38, Rock Falls 29: Close decisions in bouts gave the Golden Warriors a win over their arch rival at Tabor Gymnasium.
Sterling never trailed after any bout, but the Rockets pulled within five points, at 34-29, after Izaih James (126 pounds) used three takedowns and two reversals to win a 10-4 decision over Kolten Smith. Isaiah Figueroa (138) clinched the match for the Golden Warriors with a 13-4 major decision over Reiley Dowd.
Turner Garcia (160) and Cade Lyons (220) won their bouts with pins. Julian Rodriguez (113) won via tech fall, Noah Garcia (132) and Moises Lopez (182) earned major decision wins, and Ethan Edmondson (152) won by decision.
Fulton 47, Morrison 29: The Steamers and Mustangs split eight contested matches, with each side winning three by pinfall and one by technical fall.
Fulton’s Ethan Rash pinned Dakota Carber in the 160-pound bout in 2:39. Eli Pannell scored a win at 195 by pinning Morrison’s Brevin Pruis in 2:17. Max Pannell of Fulton pinned Chace Garland in 4:35 in the 182 match.
Fulton got a win via tech fall in 3:28 from Tony Heinitz in his 170-pound bout with Derek Bush.
Morrison got a tech fall win from Colton Linke at 106 pounds as he stopped Logan Graham in 4:15.
Ryan Kennedy (120), Augustus Linke (138) and Jarin Schmidt (152) each pinned his opponent in the first period for the Mustangs.
Newman splits in Port Byron: In a make-up triangular match at Riverdale, Newman beat St. Bede 30-27 but fell to Riverdale 36-30.
Kyle Tunink (126 pounds), Brody Ivey (145), Cael Sanders (152), Mason Newman (170) and Nick Eddinger (285) were double winners for the Comets.
Eddinger won both of his matches with pins, needing just 47 seconds against Riverdale and 35 seconds against St. Bede.
Newman had two pins, both in the first period, and his pin against St. Bede came at 38 seconds.
Sanders needed just 29 seconds to pin his opponent from St. Bede.
WEDNESDAY
Steamers split at Rockridge: Fulton topped Rockridge 51-29 and lost to Riverdale 49-30 in a triangular between Three Rivers teams in Edgington.
Tyler Fleetwood (132) pinned both of his opponents to lead the way for Fulton.
TUESDAY
Milder wins No. 400: The Lena-Winslow/Stockton Pantherhawks swept a triangular against Durand and Rockford Lutheran, and head coach Kevin Milder reached a milestone with the victory over the Bulldogs.
Milder has coached the cooperative for 24 years, and has led teams to seven conference titles, four regional titles, two sectional titles, and both a second-place finish at the dual team state meet (2012) and a 1A championship (2017).
Erie-Prophetstown 48, West Carroll 30: Chris Bonnell (120) and Garrett Passmore (160) won by pin, and the Panthers received six forfeits to take a home win against the Thunder.
West Carroll got wins from Briar Nevills (106), Trapper Hartman (113), Ethan Doty (126), Keldon McCombie (145), Cameron Simpson (152) and Eli Dertz (195).

Sterling RB Sullivan picks Missouri Western
Sterling running back Nyrel Sullivan has verbally committed to Missouri Western State.
The Griffons were 4-7 in 2017. The Division II school in St. Joseph, Missouri, plays in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Sullivan carried 228 times for 1,710 yards and a program-record 33 touchdowns in 2017. He had 434 career carries between Dixon and Sterling for 3,387 yards and 63 touchdowns.
FOOTBALL
Fulton’s Mason to play at St. Ambrose
Fulton senior Brody Mason announced Wednesday night via Twitter that he will continue his football career at St. Ambrose University.
Mason made 26 tackles in a Class 1A first-round win over Ottawa Marquette, tying current Fulton boys basketball coach RJ Coffey for the most tackles in a single game in school history.
Mason was a second-team All-Area selection, and received second-team honors in the TRAC Rock as a center and linebacker.
The Fighting Bees compete in the Midwest League of the Mid-States Football Association, and finished 4-6 last season.
BASEBALL
Fulton’s Collachia commits to Coe
Fulton senior Hunter Collachia announced Friday on Twitter that he will continue his baseball career at Coe College.
Collachia was a second-team TRAC West selection last season, as well as an Honorable Mention All-Area pick.
Coe competes at the Division III level in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Kohawks finished 24-18 last year, advancing to the championship game of the conference tournament before bowing out to Wartburg.
