MORRISON – Rachel J. Groharing, 84, of Morrison, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling.
Rachel was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Morrison, to Ren and Cornelia (Tegeler) Ottens. She was a graduate of Morrison High School. Rachel married Richard B. Groharing on Aug. 6, 1954, in Morrison. He died on Aug. 26, 2007. Rachel worked as a bank teller at Smith Trust & Savings Bank in Morrison, and was the bookkeeper for Groharing Mason Contractors in Morrison. Rachel was a homemaker. She was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church, and had been a member of Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Groharing of Fulton and Andrew (Lisa) Groharing of Mount Prospect; six grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Brenton, Seth, Brittany, and Ethan; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Bronxtyn; and three sisters, Ruth Wilkens of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Joyce Kimmel of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Judy Steele of Princeton, Iowa.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Ottens, and a daughter-in-law, Wendy Groharing.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morrison Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Kevin VerHoeven, pastor of Thrive Ministries, Morrison Campus, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison is handling arrangements.
