JOLIET – Police made another arrest in a shooting where an unmarked Joliet police car was targeted with gunfire last week, authorities said.

On Friday, D’Amonta Barber, 18, of the 1400 block of Liberty Meadow Drive, was arrested in connection with the incident that took place about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 31. He is being held at the Will County jail on a $1 million bond.

Christopher Madison, 21, of the 7800 block of South Muskegon Avenue, Chicago, had also been arrested for allegedly shooting at the police car on Liberty Meadow Drive. He also was jailed on a $1 million bond.

Barber was identified by police as one of several people who approached the unmarked car on Liberty Meadow Drive. Barber and Madison allegedly fired multiple rounds at the car before running into a residence and then fleeing on foot.

No one was injured and officers did not find any damage to the car or surrounding properties, Joliet Police Deputy Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.

An investigation showed probable cause for the arrest of Barber because he reportedly was seen through video surveillance, Gregory said.

Joliet police tactical officers came in contact with Madison and Barber at the Will County Courthouse, 14 W. Jefferson St., where the two were arrested, Gregory said.

Barber was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition and having no firearm owner’s identification card.
