Northern Illinois sees 4 to 6 inches of snow from storm overnight, as flurries steadily continue

Snow was likely to greatly impact Friday morning's commute, after Northern Illinois received four to six inches overnight and the flurries were expected to continue off and on through the weekend.

Estimated accumulation in Woodstock exceeded six inches, Romeoville exceeded four inches and St. Charles received 4.5 inches.

That National Weather Service also forecasted that after its winter storm warning expired Friday night, another round of snow was expected Friday into mid-morning Saturday and early Sunday morning into late Sunday morning.

Northern Illinois closed its campus in DeKalb, and districts 427, 302, 424, among others were closed Friday in the DeKalb County area.

Districts 114, 122, 159, 202, 204, 205, 209-U, 255-U, 30-C, 365, 54,86, 88A, 90, 91, 92 and others closed in the Will County area.

And districts 12, 124, 15, 155, 157, 158, 165, 19, 2, 26, 36, 37, 47 and others were closed in the McHenry County area.

Anyone who needed to travel Friday morning should allow for extra time, the service stated.
