Gisela Hansen

PRINCETON — Gisela B. Hansen, 71, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Gisela was born Sept. 16, 1946, in Wesel, Germany, to Johann and Gertrude (Tyrann) Schnell. She married Thomas F. Hansen Sept. 3, 1966, in Wesel, Germany.

She was a loving mother, and proud Oma and Mima to her four grandchildren. Her life was her family, both at home and in Germany. Gisela enjoyed gardening, baking and crafting with her grandkids. She enjoyed working in the social field and was very passionate about helping others. She was a legal advocate for Freedom House in Princeton. Gisela worked for 14 years at North Central Behavioral Health Systems as a case manager.

She is survived by her husband; two children, Derek (Rima) Hansen of Cleveland, Ohio, and Carie (Dan) Jaeger of Princeton; four grandchildren, Kyle, Emily, Medeja and Arija; three brothers, Horst, Wolfgang and Werner; and two sisters, Doris and Edith.

Gisela was preceded in death by one brother, Walter; and her parents.

A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Daniel Gifford officiating. Burial will follow the service at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Believe Foundation in Princeton.
