Izzy's shooting suspect in Will County jail

JOLIET – Patrick K. Gleason, the man who allegedly shot and killed a bartender and shot another person at Izzy’s Tap on Theodore Street in Joliet early Friday, now is in the Will County jail after being released from the hospital.

Gleason, 55, of the 1600 block of Dearborn Street in Crest Hill was booked at 4:12 p.m. Sunday after spending some time at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. A police source said his jaw was broken and teeth knocked out by the men who interceded after the fatal shooting.

Joliet Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner said Gleason is facing five charges of first-degree murder, three charges of attempted murder, one charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery. He is being held on
$10 million bond, of which he needs to post 10 percent to be released, and is due in court Monday.

Gleason allegedly shot and killed bartender Daniel Rios III, 52, and allegedly shot Thomas Izquierdo, 26, of Crest Hill, the son of Alfonso “Izzy” Izquierdo, who owns the bar. Izquierdo was shot while trying to subdue Gleason, and he was flown to a Chicago hospital in critical condition.

Thomas Izquierdo’s mother, Rosie, said Sunday that her son was out of the intensive care unit, was conscious and breathing on his own. He suffered damage to his lungs, diaphragm and liver, and still has tubes draining his lungs of blood. Operators were unable to remove the bullet from his body.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Rios' family.

“We wish them all the love and support that we can give them,” said Rosie of the Rios family.

On the Izzy's Joliet Facebook page, a post on Sunday said "We would like to thank everyone for their continued support and prayers. We will re-open on Monday 3/12 at 6am. We love and miss you Danny Rios."

An obituary on the Woodlawn Funeral Home website, it said Rios' funeral will be held 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home located at 3201 W. Jefferson Street in Joliet. A Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 416 North Chicago Street in Joliet.

Rios is survived by his children, Alec and Carolina.
