Picante Mexican Grill opens on Algonquin Road

From tacos to burritos, there is a new eatery option in Algonquin.

Picante Mexican Grill, 2737 W. Algonquin Road, opened March 17 after the owner was looking to settle into Algonquin for more than a year, manager Tim Trujillo said.

The restaurant, just west of Randall Road, is a family-run business.

“We were inspired to open here because Algonquin is a very inviting village and has good neighbors in Huntley and Lake in the Hills who come and frequent the restaurant,” Trujillo said.

The quick-service restaurant is about 1,300 square feet and offers both dining and takeout options.

Customers move through a service line as food is prepared to their specifications and choice of ingredients.

The building previously was used for an Indian restaurant called Barbeque & More, which opened in 2014.

“We knew there weren’t too many Mexican restaurants in the area, so we thought it would be a good addition,” Trujillo said.

Menu items include tortas, burritos, quesadillas, tacos and nachos.

Trujillo said the owner hopes to add more entrées to the menu soon.

Picante is open from 11 a.m. to
9 p.m. seven days a week.
