Brent Edward Ricks

HOUSTON – It is with great sadness that the family of Brent Ricks announces his unexpected passing on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the age of 57 years, in Houston.

Brent was born Nov. 22, 1960, in Sterling, the son of Edward and Nancy (Eshleman) Ricks. He was a 1978 graduate of Rock Falls High School. He attended Northern Illinois University. After college, Brent worked at National Manufacturing Co. in Sterling. He then worked in guest services at Kapalua Golf Resort in Lahaina, Maui, from 1998 to 2005. In 2006, he relocated to Houston, working at the Second Baptist Church as a sound technician up until his death. He had a passion for music, being the collector of many albums. Brent enjoyed helping people out. He enjoyed cooking his famous pizza and fried chicken for others.

Brent will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Regina (DeWayne Williams) Cox of Rock Falls; his brother, Dolph (Karen) Ricks of Dixon; nieces, Stepheny (Brian) Coers, Kelsi (Odin) Spinka, Allison Ricks, and Kaylie Ricks; and his nephews, Jessy Williams, Zachary Vandervort, Jacob Andrews, William Andrews, and Henry Spinka.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, and the funeral at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with Pastor Scott Porter of Abiding Word Church in Sterling officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
