Lawrence Yingling

DIXON – Lawrence Yingling, 97, of Dixon, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. He was a self-employed farmer and owned his own real estate firm, before his retirement.

Lawrence was born May 15, 1920, in Harmon, the son of Earnest Dewey and Ella (Harms) Yingling. He married Kathryn Sneek on June 21, 1941, in St. Charles, Missouri. She preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2017. Lawrence served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Ron (Michele) Yingling and Larry (Nora) Yingling, both of Polo; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Giese of Durand; one brother, Edwin Yingling of Woosung; two sisters, Evelyn Joesten of Oregon and LaVerne (Irv) Scholl of Polo; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ron Giese.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Pastor Jack Briggs officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
