State plans inspections of I-80 bridge in Joliet

Minimum of two lanes will remain open during inspections

JOLIET – The state has planned daily lane closures for inspections of the Interstate 80 bridge, starting April 30.

The schedule depends on the weather, according to an Illinois Department of Transportation news release.

The plan is to begin in the westbound lanes and move to the eastbound lanes May 7.

The inspections are scheduled to be done May 12. A minimum of two lanes will be open during the inspections. Lane closures will occur between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and on Saturday, if necessary.

IDOT advises motorists to plan for delays and allow extra time when traveling I-80 over the bridge during the inspection.
