Pastor Roger Hubbard

WAPELLO, Iowa — Pastor Roger Harvey Hubbard, 86, of Wapello, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Roger was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Wyanet, the son of Harvey Martin and Anna L. (Dalton) Hubbard. On June 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Abrams in Pittsfield.

Roger was a farmer and carpenter in the Bureau County area before becoming a pastor. He started the Great Bend Bible Church in Great Bend, Kan., served at many other churches and was currently the pastor at Letts Bible Church.

Roger enjoyed woodworking, gardening and visiting with people, but most of all, he dearly loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Roger will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Ann of Wapello, Iowa; his children, Linda Ann (Dan) Baxter of Mendota, Daniel Bruce (Dee) Hubbard of Custer, S.D., Donald Warren (Debra) Hubbard of Princeton and Craig Marc (Amy) Hubbard of Yukon, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and one brother, Max Hubbard of Rockford.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Poppy and Jonah; one sister, Doris May Kissick; and one brother, Donald Warren Hubbard.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Kasbeer Community Church in Kasbeer. Burial will be in the Malden Cemetery. Following committal services at the cemetery, food and fellowship will be held at the church. Visitation will be held prior to the services, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Letts Bible Church in Letts, Iowa, or Kid’s Klub in Malden in memory of Roger.
