Police investigating threat at Dundee-Crown High School

Dundee-Crown High School administrators received an anonymous call Wednesday morning that a threat was made to harm a teacher, Community Unit School District 300 said in a statement.

The Carpentersville Police Department responded to the scene and worked with the district to investigate the threat.

"Carpentersville police personnel will maintain an increased visibility in and around Dundee-Crown High School today and Thursday, as a precaution based on the anonymous call," Police Chief Michael J. Kilbourne said in a statement posted Wednesday afternoon on the village of Carpentersville Public Safety Facebook page.

Students moved from class to class during the shelter-in-place procedure, but they had limited entry and exit abilities from the building and were not allowed to eat in hallways during lunch, District 300 public relations director Anthony McGinn said.

The final exam schedule for Wednesday went on as normal, McGinn said.

As buses entered the Dundee-Crown campus,1500 Kings Road, on Wednesday morning, students were released from one bus at a time to ensure that they entered the building in a “safe and orderly fashion,” according to a statement posted on the district’s Facebook page. Students only were allowed to enter the building through the main entrance and the fine arts entrance.

Students were dismissed from school as normal. Chromebook collection has been moved to Thursday, McGinn said.

Additional relevant information will be released when it becomes available, Kilbourne said in a statement. Details regarding the threat or the individual involved have not been released.

Police could not be reached for information Wednesday.
