Lake in the Hills man accused of raping woman, trespassing

19-year-old jailed on sex assault charges

A man accused of trespassing at a Lake in the Hills home and raping a woman with learning disabilities remained at the McHenry County Jail on Wednesday.

Andrew D. Winter, 19, is accused of raping a woman he knew, who could not give consent, according to a complaint filed in McHenry County court.

Police also said Winter, of the 2000 block of Brittany Bend, Lake in the Hills, illegally entered a nearby home.

The McHenry County assistant state's attorney prosecuting the case was not available for comment Wednesday.

Winter must post 10 percent of his $150,000 bond to be released.

He faces felony charges of criminal sexual assault and criminal trespass to a residence. The most serious charge, criminal sexual assault, carries a penalty of as many as 15 years in prison.

Lake in the Hills police declined to comment on details of the case.

Winter is expected to make another court appearance Friday.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to correct Winter's address and reflect that the alleged victim did not live at the home where Winter reportedly trespassed.
