Huntley School District 158 Board approves more than $1.7M in admin salary contracts

3 of the 4 contracts are through 2021, one through 2023

Huntley School District 158 has approved multiyear contracts of more than $1.7 million in salaries alone for four of its administrators.

The figure doesn’t include what the district will pay for benefits for those employees, who include chief financial officer Mark Altmayer, chief technology officer Christopher Budzynski, assistant superintendent for human resources Adam Zehr and director of communications and public engagement Dan Armstrong.

The board approved three-year contracts with Armstrong, Zehr and Budzynski and a five-year contract with Altmayer last month.

All contracts were approved with built-in annual raises. Armstrong will begin the school year with a salary $75,000 and end in the 2021 school year with $80,500. The district will pay Zehr $130,000 in 2018-19, and he will end in 2021 with a $138,000 salary, according to school district documents.

Budzynski will work this coming school year for $120,000 annually and end in 2021 with a $130,000 salary. Altmayer will make $180,000 in 2018-19 and end in 2023 with a $204,000 salary, according to his contract.

Administrators will have health benefits, vacation time, the ability to submit expense reports and, in some cases, receive reimbursement for continuing education.

At the same meeting, the board approved raises for its nonunion support staff, professional staff and administrators. A 3.5 percent raise will be given to those staffers, and employees who contribute to the Teacher Retirement System and are planning to retire within the next four years will receive a 3 percent increase, according to district documents.

Nonunion wage increases are expected to total $243,527.
