ROCKFORD – Dwight W. Parker, 99, of Rockford, formerly of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Wesley Willows in Rockford.

Dwight was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Hillsdale, to Albert F. and Odelia M. (Kuehl) Parker. He was a graduate of Hillsdale High School in Hillsdale.

Dwight married Lillian V. Hvalgren on Nov. 4, 1945, in Moline. She died Nov. 17, 2017. Dwight worked as a foreman at John Deere Harvester in Moline and was also engaged in farming with his father and brother in Hillsdale.

Dwight and Lillian later moved and began farming in the Prophetstown/Lyndon area until retirement. Dwight also served on the Board of Directors for Smith Trust and Savings Bank in Morrison.

Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Oppedal of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Pat (Kraig) Pierceson of Belvidere, Mary Cipolle of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, and Dawn (Tom) Finnicum of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Ryan) Hand, Megan Pierceson, Kate Cipolle, Parker Cipolle, Natalie (Grant) Cipolle Nunn, Olivia Cipolle, Kristin (Gerritt) Nobles, and Mark Finnicum; two great-grandchildren, Ella Hand and Grant Nunn IV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian; one son-in-law, Greg Oppedal, three grandchildren, Erika and Damon Oppedal; and Mark David Cipolle; one sister, Thelma Parker; and two brothers, Leland and Glenn Parker.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. The Rev. Kathy Burkheimer will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. A memorial has been established to Good Samaritan Society in Prophetstown.
