Charles Odell Jr.

BRADFORD — Charles “Chuck” R. Odell Jr., 87, of Bradford died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a brief illness.

Charles was born March 29, 1931, to Pat and Beulah (Sterling) Odell. He was later adopted by Charles and Margaret (Sterling) Odell. He married Phyllis Andersen on June 5, 1954, in Walnut.

He graduated from Walnut High School in 1949 and later served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was a proud member of Bradford American Legion Post 445. He was employed at Odell Chevrolet Sales in Bradford and later at BF Goodrich in Henry, before retiring in 1991.

He is survived by his children, Steven Odell of Bradford, Debra (Steve) Gorman of Prosper, Texas, Roxanna (Doug) Piper of Manlius and Mick Odell of Mackinaw; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lori (Doug) McCollum of Rock Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; two brothers, Francis and Harry; one grandson, Nicholas; and a great-grandson, Lucas.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery, Walnut, immediately following the service with military rites accorded by the Bradford American Legion Post 445.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 9, at the funeral home.
