Locals soon will have a new place to buy their Chanel No. 5 and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male fragrances.
Bolingbrook-based Ulta Beauty will open Aug. 3 in the Crystal Point Shopping Center, 6000 Route 14.
“We’re excited that Ulta is coming back to the Crystal Lake market,” said Heather Maieritsch, the city’s economic development manager. “We have this great snowball effect going on.”
Maieritsch said the city is “filling a lot of our vacancies.”
Ulta will go in a space previously occupied by Sports Authority. It will take up the westernmost section of the former Sports Authority with a new glass entryway in front and a separating wall inside the currently empty space.
Crystal Point Shopping Center was built and annexed to Crystal Lake in the 1970s. It started as an enclosed mall with various stores and parking on both sides of the buildings, according to city documents.
Today, it is occupied by big-box tenants such as Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond and The Fresh Market.
It also will welcome Steinhafels furniture superstore this year in the former Kmart space.
Ulta, the largest beauty store chain in the nation, will operate a 10,000-square-foot space. The company sells cosmetics, fragrances, skin care products, hair care products and salon services from about 500 brands. According to the company website, Ulta aims to be “the most-loved beauty destination of our guests and the most-admired retailer by our Ulta Beauty associates, communities, partners and investors.”
There are two other Ultas in McHenry County, at 3206 Shoppers Drive in McHenry and 1804 S. Randall Road in Algonquin.
