DIXON – Alan Dowell “Al” Stephens, 69, of Dixon, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at his home. He worked for 40 years for Illinois American Water Company in Sterling in different departments, retiring as a technician.
Alan was born July 31, 1949, in Peoria, the son of Horace Dowell and Gladys Mae (Doyle) Stephens. He married Terri Lynn DeLong on Aug. 19, 1994, in Dixon. Alan attended Lost Lake Community Church. His passion was tinkering around on old cars. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Baby Girl Sophie.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Terri Stephens of Dixon; six children, Jason (Angie) Stephens of Nachusa, Chad Stephens of Dixon, Jeffrey Hardison of Sterling, and Tammy Kolve, Nicki “Pebbles” (Ed) Webb, and Matthew (Vanessa) Kolve, all of Dixon; one sister, Pam Stephens of Rock Falls; and four grandchildren.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with Bob Clardie, pastor, officiating.
