Applebee’s jobs for DeKalb location posted in error

Employment postings moved to Elgin, nearest location to closed local spot

DeKALB – If you were hoping for the return of riblets at the local Applebee’s, we have bad news.

Turns out, the 18 positions posted for the shuttered DeKalb restaurant at 2411 Sycamore Road were a technical error, according to an email from Robin Jenkins, media relations representative with RMH Franchise Holdings.

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The job postings for the closed DeKalb Applebee’s were the result of a technical error. The postings have been removed and all applications have been transferred to the Elgin Applebee’s,” according to the email.

That’s where the local restaurant’s Facebook page directed its superfans: to the Elgin location at 125 S. Randall Road.

The DeKalb location closed in mid-June, and was one of dozens shuttered this year.

The company shut down about 100 locations last year, and said that about 80 more locations would follow suit in 2018.
