Police: Joliet woman kicked officer in the groin

Suspect allegedly kept fighting after arrest

A Plainfield woman allegedly kicked an officer in the groin and continued to struggle with other officers after she was arrested, police said.

On Friday evening, Joliet police officers responded to the 5400 block of Sun Valley Drive after receiving a complaint of a person who was not wanted at a residence and had refused to leave, Joliet police Sgt. Darrell Gavin said.

Officers met with a man who said his ex-girlfriend, Cari Bean, 41, was inside his house and refused to leave after being asked to do so, Gavin said. The man explained he invited Bean over but she was intoxicated, insulted him and his family and refused to leave, he said.

Officers entered the residence and attempted to talk to Bean through a locked door, Gavin said, but received no response.

Officers became concerned that Bean may have been hurting herself or actively barricading the door, Gavin said, so the officers unlocked the door but Bean pushed back against it.

Gavin said the officers made entry and told Bean she needed to leave the residence, but she once again refused.

As officers were escorting Bean from the residence, she kicked one of them in the groin, Gavin said.

Bean continued to struggle and fight with the officers as she was being taken to their squad car, Gavin said.

Bean was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting police, criminal trespass to a residence and criminal damage to property.
