PRINCETON — Dolores Elaine McVety, 67, of Princeton died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, in Rochester, Minn.
She was born Nov. 25, 1950, in Richlands, Va., to Harvey H. and Bonnie Vernell (Call) Franks. She married Bruce R. McVety May 5, 1973, in Montrose, Mich. They were married for 45 years. They moved from Michigan to Princeton in 1983, to Tiskilwa in 1989, and returned to Princeton in 2013.
Elaine was a school teacher for over 30 years, teaching in Flint, Mich., public schools, the Tiskilwa school district and Princeton High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Spring Arbor University in 1972, her Master of Science from Illinois State University in 2000, and did graduate studies in library science at North Illinois University, 1990-1992. She retired from teaching in May of 2017.
Surviving are two daughters, Christina Marie (Rowe) and Amanda Kay McVety (Hogan); two grandchildren, William Harvey Hogan, 2 1/2, and Eamon Bruce Hogan, 1 1/2; her mother, Bonnie Vernell Franks of Herndon, Va.; a brother James Franks of Herndon, Va.; and a sister, Pamela Seifert of San Marino, Calif.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 N. Main St., Princeton, with the Rev. Derek C. Boggs officiating.
