A new senior living facility is coming to Algonquin.
Village trustees unanimously gave a green light to Algonquin Senior Living, a sprawling community proposed for Harnish Drive, just west of Randall Road.
Last week, the Committee of the Whole approved the project’s final subdivision plat. The Village Board will vote on final approval this fall.
The 30-acre site that will house the community was annexed to the village in May 2017. The estimated 160,000-square-foot complex will occupy about 10 acres.
The center is a project of Denver-based Spectrum Retirement Communities, one of the nation’s largest senior living providers.
Algonquin Senior Living will feature 162 senior living residences “planned to maximize independence, health and security,” according to a Spectrum Retirement Communities statement.
Apartments will range from studios to two-bedroom, two-bath,1,000-square-foot homes.
“Supply of high-quality senior living has not met the demand in Algonquin, and its seniors deserve an exceptional community that feels like home,” Spectrum President Brad Kraus said in a statement. “We appreciate all that the village has to offer and will work together with officials as we design and plan a one-of-a-kind community with broad appeal.”
Spectrum hopes to break ground early next year. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the plans last month.
Once open, developers said it will offer a range of living options for seniors seeking independent living spaces or in need of assisted living and memory care services.
Spectrum operates five communities in the Chicago area.
“Good stewardship and the pursuit of perfection are among the core values that drive everything we do,” Kraus said. “Algonquin Senior Living will deliver the same excellence that residents of our other area communities enjoy.”
