Hock a finalist for Marco Island city manager job

Former City Manager Jim Hock, who announced his retirement when he left the job last year, is a finalist for an interim city manager job in Marco Island, Florida, according to a newspaper report.

Hock is among three candidates remaining for the job, according to a report last week in the Marco Eagle.

“The three remaining candidates are vying to add some stability to an office that has seen a revolving door and regular controversy,” the Marco Eagle said of Hock and the other two candidates.

The previous city manager was terminated in March after three months on the job and is awaiting trial on a misdemeanor battery charge, according to the report.The current acting city manager in Marco Island does not want to continue in the job.

Hock gave a month’s notice when he retired from Joliet in May 2017.

He has been back to town since, attending the Great Joliet Prison Break-In Aug. 25, a grand opening for the Old Joliet Prison. Hock also was at the grand opening of the Joliet Gateway Center train station in June.
