Fox River Grove library to unveil improvements with celebration

Family-friendly event is Oct. 20

The Fox River Grove Memorial Library has reopened after completing extensive renovations.

Library trustees and staff invite the public to a grand reopening celebration Oct. 20 at the library. Family-friendly festivities will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m.

The upgrades to the facility required no additional funds from patrons. Improvements include a modernized elevator, new paint and carpet throughout, a family restroom on the upper floor that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, safety improvements in Youth Services, a cozy reading lounge by the fireplace, a new exterior book drop and more.

Library staff took the opportunity to develop new and improved services during the closure, including a new printer/copier and touchscreen pay station for easier and faster printing from public computers; acceptance of credit card payments; Book Club Book Bags for book groups to check out; board games to play at the library; new science, technology, engineering and math kits and tablets funded by a PTO grant; a new projector and screen to show movies; and umbrellas and snow scrapers to check out when the weather brings a surprise.
