The University of Illinois Agricultural Education program has placed a student teacher, Kirsten Raver, with Kara Poynter and Brandie Burgess, agricultural science instructors at Sycamore High School.
From January through April, Raver will teach agriculture courses, assist with coaching and advising students for FFA events, and attend FFA conferences.
Gary Ochs, adviser to student teachers in the Agricultural Education Program at the University of Illinois said in a news release, “The student teaching experience is the capstone for the undergraduate education program. Student teaching with high school agriculture teachers like Mrs. Poynter and Mrs. Burgess becomes an extension of the University of Illinois Agricultural Education Program.”
The Agricultural Education Program prepares students for careers that help develop other people, organizations and communities to solve real-world problems. Graduates work with people in a variety of settings from high school classrooms to corporate-office training to workshop facilitation.
