The DeKalb boys golf team shot a 305 on Tuesday to claim first place at the Class 3A Rockford Jefferson Regional.
The Barbs won by 14 strokes over Hononegah.
Jack Paeglow was the medalist with a 70. James Kick shot a 77, and Danny Franzene carded a 78 for the Barbs.
The Barbs advance to the Class 3A Palatine Sectional on Monday at Palatine Hills Golf Course.
H-BR, Indian Creek each advance one individual: Indian Creek’s R.J. McCoy and Hinckley-Big Rock’s Code Cleveland each qualified for the next round out of the Class 1A Byron Regional.
McCoy shot an 85, to take sixth. Cleveland added a 92.
Both will compete in the Class 3A Oregon Sectional on Monday at Silver Ridge Golf Course.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
DeKalb volleyball falls to Sterling: The Barbs lost, 25-11, 25-16, at home to Sterling.
G-K falls to Dixon: The Cogs lost, 25-11, 25-13.
GIRLS TENNIS
DeKalb edged by Yorkville: The Barbs lost, 3-2.
The Barbs picked up both wins at doubles. Josie Hoppenworth and Izi Meyer Miller won, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles, and Hannah Mooberry and Noemi Fuentes were 7-6, 6-3 winners at No. 3 doubles.
CROSS COUNTRY
DeKalb boys, girls win at Burlington: The Barbs were first in both races.
Katherine Olsen led the DeKalb girls with a first-place finish, while Aidan Donohue and Jacob Trapp were third and fourth on the boys side.
BOYS SOCCER
Kaneland routs Morris: Tucker Jahns scored the game’s first three goals as Kaneland rolled to an 8-1 win.
Will Sand also scored in the first half to give Kaneland (10-6-1, 3-1-1) a 4-0 halftime lead. Jahns added two more goals in the second half to finish with five goals. Allen Dominguez and Gavin Cano also scored for the Knights.
DeKalb soccer rolls: The Barbs rolled in the second half for a 3-0 win against Yorkville.
Andrew Leon and Tyler Scarbrough had second-half goals for the Barbs.
Mauro Talamantes opened the scoring in the second minute for DeKalb (11-2-2, 5-1).
LATE MONDAY
DeKalb tennis swept: Kaneland topped the Barbs, 5-0.
Sarah Nguyen defeated Kayla Webb, 7-6, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, while Ally Mitchinson beat Addie Lopez, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
In doubles play, Anna Carlson and Erin McMullen won, 6-1, 6-3, against Josie Hoppenworth and Izi Meyer Miller at No. 1, and Eve Taylor and Hayle Platch were 6-3, 6-0 winners over Hannah Mooberry and Noemi Fuentes at No. 2. At No. 3 doubles, Christel Lamera and Sofia Gonzalez were 6-0, 6-2 winners against Seantae Johnson and Hoa Vo.
IC opens LTC tourney with win: The Timberwolves were 25-15, 25-22 winners against LaMoille.
Evelyn Witte had 11 kills, while Autumn Johanningsmeier had 24 digs for the Timberwolves (14-8-2, 3-2).
In other tournament scores, Hiawatha was a 21-25, 25-23, 25-21 winner against Somonauk, while H-BR lost to Earlville, 25-9, 25-11.
IC will play in a semifinal Thursday against Earlville, while Hiawatha had a semifinal Tuesday and H-BR also was in a game Tuesday in the consolation bracket.
G-K loses late: Westminster scored two second-half goals in a 4-3 win.
Genoa-Kingston (6-13) got two goals from Eagan Reams in the first half, plus an own goal to lead 3-2 at halftime. Reams scored on an assist from his brother, Ben, with a second left in the first half.
H-BR opens LTC soccer tourney with win against IC: The Royals won, 6-3.
Tate Sanderson scored twice while Noah Badal, Remy Lynch, Gavin Cotton and Richard Mintzche. They were set to play a semifinal Tuesday.
IC (12-7) got a goal and two assists from Drew Gaston, who became the first IC soccer player to score 30 goals in a season. He also passed teammate Cam Russell – who scored twice Monday – for the team lead and school record with 18 assists.
The Timberwolves play in the consolation bracket Thursday.
