Mary Eckhoff

PRINCETON — Mary Ellen Eckhoff, 89, of Princeton died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at Aperion Nursing Home in Princeton.

She was born June 8, 1929, in Tiskilwa, the daughter of Albert and Catherine (Schertz) Eckhoff.

She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria in 1950. She worked as registered nurse for over 30 years in Hastings, Mich., and moved to Princeton in 2010.

She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton.

Survivors include her brother, Allen (Connie) Eckhoff of Metamora; her sister-in-law, Ina Eckhoff of Tremont; five nephews, Gary (Susan) Eckhoff of Tremont, Daniel (Beverly) Eckhoff of Tremont, Mark (Patty) Eckhoff of Edelstein, Michael (Bleydy) Eckhoff of Spring, Texas, and Michael Eckhoff; three nieces, Marjorie Eckhoff of Bloomington, Michelle (Kevin) Buscher of Peoria and Pamela Eckhoff; and many great- and great-great- nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a special friend, Wilma Anderson; two brothers, Albert and Charles Eckhoff; one sister, Susan Eckhoff; and one niece, Linda Eckhoff Sims.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. A celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Daniel Gifford and Abbott Hugh Anderson concelebrating. Cremation rites will follow after and a private burial will be held at a later date at Mt. Bloom Cemetery in Tiskilwa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton.

The Garland Funeral Home in Walnut is assisting the family with arrangements.
