Why she was selected: The North Stars' senior and Western Kentucky recruit shot a two-day total of 149 for sixth place, helping lead her team to the Class 2A state championship. Arnold shot a 72 in a second round that included three birdies.
Arnold caught up with Chronicle sports reporter Jacob Bartelson to discuss her and the team's achievement. Below is an edited transcript.
Bartelson: Now that you've had some time to process the weekend, what stands out when you reflect more on what the team accomplished?
Arnold: The team was much more unified and supportive of each other because we have played together for so many years.
Bartelson: How cool was the police and fire truck escort once back into town?
Arnold: The police escort was very cool because nothing has ever happened like that before, and It was so unexpected and really appreciated.
Bartelson: What will you miss most about your team here?
Arnold: I will miss their company, and the fun we had together for the past four years.
Bartelson: What are you looking forward to most at Western Kentucky when you get there?
Arnold: I’m excited to start a new chapter, and go into the next level of golf. And, maybe help Western Kentucky and coach [Adam] Gary win a championship.
