DeKalb artist Dale Osterle has opend “Memories,” an exhibition of landscapes, at Chicago Center for The Print, 1451 W. Fullerton Ave. in Chicago. An opening reception with the artist is scheduled rom 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Osterle has long been inspired by the environments she has lived in and traveled to. She grew up in New England with rolling hills, huge old trees, woods and winding paths. Her travels to Provence, France, in the early 1980s were a particular influence on her work.
Osterle received a bachelor’s degree from The Rhode Island School of Design and a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University where she spent 20 years with master printmaker David Driesbach.
She has studied in Florence, Italy, and in the Loire Valley, France, and has been an artist in residence at Ragdale in Illinois several times.
Osterle’s landscapes are romantic and expressionistic reflections on the “Memories” of her life. They are executed in an elongated rectangular shape that emphasizes the design and scale of her works. Her handpainted intaglio etchings on magnesium plates are printed on acid free rag paper in small editions of 20 prints, each one different from the next, because they are handpainted.
Osterle’s works are represented in galleries in Chicago, New York and Florida.
Her works are in dozens of corporate collections including McDonald’s, IBM, Reader’s Digest, Chubb & Son and Zane Corp.
