Michael Monier

OHIO, Ill. — Michael L. Monier, 42, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, surrounded by family.

Michael was born May 19, 1976, in Princeton to Steven Monier and Cecilia Jortz (formerly Monier). He was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1995.

After graduation, Michael began working at Steak City Feed Lot in Ohio, Ill. He met and married Sarah Bruns on June 18, 2011, at the First Lutheran Church in Ohio, Ill. Soon after, Michael adopted Sarah’s daughter, Haley. Michael and Sarah welcomed their son, Lance, to the family in 2013.

He was a member of the Ohio School Board, was a volunteer firefighter for Malden Fire Department, and was president of the Bureau County Cattlemen Association and Beef Days.

He enjoyed showing cattle, farming and watching a good documentary. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his children, Haley and Lance, and his loving wife, Sarah.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sarah; one daughter, Haley; one son, Lance; his father and stepmother, Steve and Shellee Monier; his mother and stepfather, Cecilia and Jim Jortz; three brothers, Chad Monier, Joe (Stephanie) Monier and Chris (Tiffany) Monier; two stepbrothers, Nick (Brook) Schafer and Daniel (April) Schafer; a very special uncle, Randy (Staci) Hanson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Joyce Hanson, and Tom and Camilla Monier; and one uncle, Ed Hanson.

Services for Michael will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton with the Rev. Kenneth TerBush officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
