Michael L. Monier

OHIO – Michael L. Monier, 42, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Perry Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.

Michael was born May 19, 1976, in Princeton, to Steven Monier and Cecilia Jortz (formerly Monier). He was a Class of 1995 graduate of Princeton High School. After graduation, Michael began working at Steak City Feed Lot in Ohio. He met, then married, Sarah Bruns on June 18, 2011, at First Lutheran Church in Ohio. Soon after, Michael adopted Sarah’s daughter, Haley. Michael and Sarah welcomed their son, Lance, to the family in 2013.

He was a member of the Ohio School Board, a volunteer firefighter for Malden Fire Department and president of the Bureau County Cattlemen Association and Beef Days.

He enjoyed showing cattle, farming and watching a good documentary. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his children, Haley and Lance and his loving wife, Sarah.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sarah; one daughter, Haley; one son, Lance; his father and stepmother, Steve and Shellee Monier; his mother and stepfather, Cecilia and Jim Jortz; three brothers, Chad Monier, Joe (Stephanie) Monier, and Chris (Tiffany) Monier, two stepbrothers, Nick (Brook) Schafer and Daniel (April) Schafer; a very special uncle, Randy (Staci) Hanson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Joyce Hanson; Tom and Camilla Monier; and one uncle, Ed Hanson.

Visitation was Thursday. The funeral service for Michael will be at 10 a.m. today at Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth TerBush.
