MAGNOLIA — Betty L. Kidd, 94, of Magnolia passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, in Manor Court in Peru.
Betty was born April 29, 1924, in Pontiac to Arley and Ora (Shrigley) Cunningham. She married John “Jack” Cole Kidd on Jan. 13, 1945. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1992.
She graduated from Magnolia High School. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm. When they gave up the dairy herd, she went to work for Magnolia Mutual Insurance and then Moews Seed Company.
Betty was one of the founders of the Illinois Girls Barrel Racing Association. She was a member of the Putnam County Trail Riders. Betty was an active 4-H leader with the Marshall-Putnam 4-H Club in the horse divisions. She also enjoyed bowling in many bowling leagues over the years.
Survivors include a son, Joe (Karen) Kidd of Fish Creek, Wis.; a daughter, Vicki (John) Ehrhardt of Wenona; a son, Mark (Lorri) Kidd of Paradise, Texas; a son, Todd (Lisa) Kidd of Summerville, S.C.; a brother, Bob (Jean) Cunningham of Lacon; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Phyllis Bestold; two brothers, Richard and Donald Cunningham; and one grandson, Deven Royce.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Methodist church in Magnolia with the Rev. Dr. Ron McNeill officiating. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Putnam County Food Pantry, Magnolia Township Preservation Association or the donor's choice.
Pallbearers will be David Anderson Jr., John Kidd, Joe Blum, Craig McConville, Lee McQuilkin and Bill Lauf.
