Lyle E. Hoyle

DIXON – Lyle E. Hoyle, 82, of Dixon, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his wife and daughter after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Lyle was born March 17, 1936, in Dixon, the son of Orville and Mildred (Walb) Hoyle. He married Joyce Lavonne Johnson on Oct. 15, 1955, in Dixon. Together, they had two sons and one daughter.

He worked for Bordens and Northwestern Steel & Wire Co. in Sterling. Lyle loved his two grandsons and spending time with them. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and a good hand of poker. After retiring from Northwestern Steel & Wire Co., he started painting houses and barns; now he paints the skies.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Hoyle of Dixon; one daughter, Cynthia Hoyle of Dixon; two grandsons, Jarod Corbin of Charleston and Jason Corbin of Eugene, Oregon; three sisters, Delores Volk, Sharon Gabrielson and Ruth Hoyle, all of Dixon; two sisters-in-law, Helen (Leroy) Hoyle and Loretta (Harold) Hoyle; many nieces and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven and Perry Hoyle; and four brothers, Harold, LeRoy, Donald and Gary; and one sister, Darleen Brucker.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Lyle’s wishes. There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling.

Thank you to family and many friends who were by us during Lyle’s illness, and to his wonderful caregivers, Deanna Solis, Katie Jones, Linda Bell and Wendi McKinnon.

Thank you, Dr. Agrawal and his staff and loving care, from Rock River Valley Hospice.

My father’s legacy to his family is not in the possessions, but in the treasure of his time and love so generously given and in the example of his life so well lived.

The righteous man walks in his integrity. His children are blessed after him.
