STERLING – Friends of Michael Russell are putting on a benefit at noon Sunday at K’s Korners, 13030 Galt Road, to help his family with medical and living expenses.
Russell, 41, of Chadwick, worked at Casey’s in Milledgeville. He suffered a stroke on Sept. 13, and was flown to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, where he died on Sept. 23. He is survived by his wife, Angela Baeza Russell, 37, who works at Wahl Clipper Corp., a son, Dakota, 20, and a daughter, Mallory, 15.
A live auction starts at 3 p.m., and includes overnight stays, Chicago White Sox tickets, children’s baskets, auto detailing, crafts, gift certificates, and home decor.
Social Life, Cases Pending, Sons of Samm and other bands will play, and there will be a DJ.
Tickets for a drawing for a quarter beef cost $10, and for a half hog cost $5; processing is included. There also will be a 50-50 raffle, a bake sale and a cake walk, and $5 can koozies and $15 T-shirts will be sold.
Hot dogs and chips, seasoned burgers with pasta salad and nachos with cheese will be sold.
