PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Randal Paul McKamey, 71, of Panama City Beach, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at Gulf Coast Regional Hospital.
Randal was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Geneva, to Paul J. and Betty Ann (Stadler) McKamey. For the past 2 1/2 years, he and his wife shared their two residences equally between Clermont, Florida, and Panama City Beach, moving to Panama City Beach permanently in June of 2018.
Randal was a graduate of Dixon High School, Class of ’65. Upon graduation, Randal enlisted into the Army and served in Vietnam, assigned to the 1st Air Calvary, where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Air Medal citations. Randal worked in warehousing for most of his 37-year career, having been most recently employed with Pepsico of Sacramento, California, and Moore Business Forms of Irving, Texas, and Orlando, Florida.
Randal enjoyed cruising in his Camaro Z-28 45th Anniversary convertible, watching sunsets on the balcony of his condo, and reading. Randal was united in marriage on Sept. 6, 1974, in Dixon to his wife, Debra, who resides in Panama City Beach. Bitten by the “travel bug” when he met his future wife, his true passion was traveling cross-country in his motor homes and travel trailers throughout their 44-year marriage.
He is also survived by his sister, Karen McKamey, brother, Clifford McKamey, and his lifetime best friend, Marty Gearhart, all of Dixon.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Panama City, Florida, is assisting the family with cremation.
