High school sports roundup for Monday, Nov. 19

Johnsburg guard Zach Toussaint scored 51 points, one off his school record, but the Skyhawks fell to Wauconda, 90-83, in their opener of the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament on Monday.

Toussaint scored 52 in a game last season, although that game was played in Wisconsin, which plays 18-minute halves, amounting to four more minutes. He hit six 3-pointers and was 13 of 16 on free throws. Alec Smith hit three 3s and scored 11 points.

Donovan Carter made four 3s and led Wauconda with 36 points. Connor Brannick added 19.

Richmond-Burton 47, Lakes 46 (OT): At Richmond, Jeff Jankowski scored 25 points to lead the Rockets past the Eagles in their opener at the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament. Jankowski had 10 field goals and was 5 of 6 on free throws.

Cody Lillge scored seven points with two 3s, one of which came in overtime. Lillge made 1-of-2 free throws in the final seconds for the victory.

R-B is playing without most of its varsity roster since they were playing in the Class 4A football playoff semifinals on Saturday.

Lakes was led by Brad Cherry with 17 points.

Ottawa 60, Marengo 48: At Ottawa, Nick Wascher led Marengo with 16 points in the season-opener. Matt Volkening added 11 points, all in the third quarter. Ottawa's Tyler Carson scored 30.

Dundee-Crown 64, Rochelle 51: At Sycamore, Josh Raby led Dundee-Crown with 26 points in a win at Sycamore's Strombom Holiday Classic. Raby scored 10 total field goals, including three 3-pointers. Kyle Huber added nine points and Jack Michalski scored eight.

St. Charles East 53, Hampshire 40: At the St. Charles East Tournament, Justin Anderson scored 14 points and had 12 rebounds for the Whip-Purs in a season-opening loss. J.D. Shaw scored 10 points for Hampshire (0-1).

Harvard 72, Westminster Christian 46: At Elgin, Damon Mueller scored 26 points and Andrew Cooke scored 25 for Harvard in a season-opening victory. Mueller shot 7 of 10 from the free-throw line and added one 3-pointer. Cooke scored 11 field goals, three from beyond the arc.

Jahkari Miller and Alberto Enriquez each scored eight points for Harvard (1-0).

IMSA 61, Alden-Hebron 44: At Aurora, Brad Judson scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds for A-H in a loss to the Illinois Math and Science Academy. Gideon Schauer added 15 points for A-H (0-1).

Hononegah 68, McHenry 35: At the Crystal Lake Central Thanksgiving Tournament, Michael Freund scored 14 points for McHenry (0-1) in a loss. Brett Loeding added nine points, Jacob Evans scored six.

Barrington 57, Crystal Lake Central 56: At the Crystal Lake Central Thanksgiving Tournament, the Broncos rallied from a nine-point deficit late to beat the Tigers (0-1).

Jason Boock scored nine of his game-high 23 in the fourth quarter for the Broncos. C.J. Lerum led Central with 18 points. The Tigers’ Alex Timmerman added 12 points

Crystal Lake South 64, Lake Zurich 63 (OT): At the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament, the Gators (0-1) pulled out an overtime win.

Schaumburg 64, Prairie Ridge 34: At the Crystal Lake Central Thanksgiving Tournament, the Wolves suffered a loss on opening night.

Grayslake North 71, Huntley 69: At the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament, the Red Raiders (0-1) fell in their opener.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wauconda 58, Richmond-Burton 46: At Wauconda, Kayly Hogan scored 19 points in R-B's loss to Wauconda. Kasey Miller had 14 points for R-B (1-3), while Payton Bannon added eight.
