MORRISON – Jane Beswick Darby, 77, of Morrison, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at her home.
Jane was born Feb. 25, 1941, to George P. and Edna D. (Bitler) Hetz. She was educated in Port Byron school systems. She first married Thomas L. Beswick on Dec. 31, 1966, in Albany. He died Sept. 15, 1985. On June 5, 1988, she married Larry H. Darby in Iowa City, Iowa. He died Nov. 3, 2012. Before his passing, Jane worked with her husband, Tom, on the family farm. She worked at the Isle of Rhodes Restaurant in Morrison for more than 35 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison. She enjoyed traveling, watching Chicago Blackhawks hockey games, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally (Dave DeCock) Beswick of Clinton, Iowa, and Lori (Pete) Vanderlaan of Chicago; one son, Terry Beswick of Fulton; two stepsons, Bruce (Brandy) Darby of Morrison and Matthew (Laura) Darby of Rochelle; one stepdaughter, Amy Darby; 11 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Schell of East Moline; one brother, Mike (Char) Hetz of Port Byron; four sisters-in-law, Marge (Kenny) Houzenga and Sara (Therm) Stuart, both of Fulton, Virginia (Jim) Fay of Omaha, Nebraska, and Lynn Mussatto of Ottawa; her special second family, George, Kathy, Nick and Karen Pompou; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Tony and Rick Beswick; one stepson, Michael Darby; and one brother, Danny Hetz.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison, with the Rev. Rich David officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
A memorial to Self Help Enterprises Inc. in Sterling has been established.
