Brian Bernardi

AURORA — Brian James Bernardi, 36, of Aurora, formerly of Ladd, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, in the University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago, following a year-and-a-half-long battle with cancer.

Born July 23, 1982, in Spring Valley to James and Margaret (Spayer) Bernardi, he married Sarah Christmann on Sept. 22, 2007, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Peru. She survives.

He was a Class of 2000 graduate of Hall High School and graduated from Columbia College in Chicago in 2005.

He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville.

Also surviving is his son, Flynn at home; his parents, Margaret and James Bernardi of Ladd; his maternal grandfather, Stanley Spayer of DePue; his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Barbara Bernardi of Ladd; his siblings, Benjamin (Rebecca) Bernardi of North Aurora, Brianna (Matthew) Rebholz of Peru and Sara (Troy) Burd of Spring Valley; and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wilma Spayer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Peru with Father Matthew Lamoureux of the St. Patrick Church in Yorkville and Father John Baptist of St. Joseph Church in Peru con-celebrating. Interment will follow in the Ladd Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Fiocchi Funeral Home in Cherry.
