Katelyn Grace Grell, 18, of Sterling, is one of Sterling High School’s November Students of the Month. Her parents are Keith and Dawn Grell, and she has two sisters, Breann and Maddison.
Favorite class: Sociology. It's a different learning environment than any other regular class. We are able to really interact and get to know each other.
Least-favorite class: English classes in general. It's just not my strongest subject.
Favorite teacher: Jennifer Drew, because I have created a close bond throughout the 4 years I had her, and she really has helped me grow as a student and person. Tyler Gaumer and Steve Johnson also have had a huge impact on my education and on my confidence as a student.
School activities in which you participate: Tennis, basketball, track, National Honor Society, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, freshman mentor program, Warrior Nation, and publications.
Civic, church or volunteer activities in which you participate: I have helped with blood and canned food drives, I have put together Christmas present shoeboxes, I took a mission trip to Detroit and helped with "Feed the Children." I also have gone to various events at the elementary schools when they have their family and reading nights.
